    Obama for president

Palin’s rise captivates us but nation needs a steady hand

    Published: October 25th, 2008 07:37 PM
    Last Modified: October 25th, 2008 08:10 PM

Alaska enters its 50th-anniversary year in the glow of an improbable and highly memorable event: the nomination of Gov. Sarah Palin as the Republican vice presidential candidate. For the first time ever, an Alaskan is making a serious bid for national office, and in doing so she brings broad attention and recognition not only to herself, but also to the state she leads.

Alaska’s founders were optimistic people, but even the most farsighted might have been stretched to imagine this scenario. No matter the outcome in November, this election will mark a signal moment in the history of the 49th state. Many Alaskans are proud to see their governor, and their state, so prominent on the national stage.

Gov. Palin’s nomination clearly alters the landscape for Alaskans as we survey this race for the presidency — but it does not overwhelm all other judgment. The election, after all is said and done, is not about Sarah Palin, and our sober view is that her running mate, Sen. John McCain, is the wrong choice for president at this critical time for our nation.

Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee, brings far more promise to the office. In a time of grave economic crisis, he displays thoughtful analysis, enlists wise counsel and operates with a cool, steady hand. The same cannot be said of Sen. McCain.

On the most important issue of the day, Sen. Obama is a clear choice.

Sen. McCain describes himself as a maverick, by which he seems to mean that he spent 25 years trying unsuccessfully to persuade his own party to follow his bipartisan, centrist lead. Sadly, maverick John McCain didn’t show up for the campaign. Instead we have candidate McCain, who embraces the extreme Republican orthodoxy he once resisted and cynically asks Americans to buy for another four years.

It is Sen. Obama who truly promises fundamental change in Washington. You need look no further than the guilt-by-association lies and sound-bite distortions of the degenerating McCain campaign to see how readily he embraces the divisive, fear-mongering tactics of Karl Rove. And while Sen. McCain points to the fragile success of the troop surge in stabilizing conditions in Iraq, it is also plain that he was fundamentally wrong about the more crucial early decisions. Contrary to his assurances, we were not greeted as liberators; it was not a short, easy war; and Americans — not Iraqi oil — have had to pay for it. It was Sen. Obama who more clearly saw the danger ahead.

The unqualified endorsement of Sen. Obama by a seasoned, respected soldier and diplomat like Gen. Colin Powell, a Republican icon, should reassure all Americans that the Democratic candidate will pass muster as commander in chief.

OH and they didn’t totally downplay our homegirl Palin…here’s what they had to say about her:

Gov. Palin has shown the country why she has been so successful in her young political career. Passionate, charismatic and indefatigable, she draws huge crowds and sows excitement in her wake. She has made it clear she’s a force to be reckoned with, and you can be sure politicians and political professionals across the country have taken note. Her future, in Alaska and on the national stage, seems certain to be played out in the limelight.

Yet despite her formidable gifts, few who have worked closely with the governor would argue she is truly ready to assume command of the most important, powerful nation on earth. To step in and juggle the demands of an economic meltdown, two deadly wars and a deteriorating climate crisis would stretch the governor beyond her range. Like picking Sen. McCain for president, putting her one 72-year-old heartbeat from the leadership of the free world is just too risky at this time.

    • Serious Political Talk: Is this country ready for any CHANGE?

    •
SECTION: Important American Government & Politics,THE U.S. Economy,Venting,Voting,What do you think?,What is your purpose in life?,Words of WisdomCrisis, Economy, future, McCain, Obama, Voting, WAR

Simple Question:  Do you believe this country is ready for any change?

We all know that America is the land of opportunity and “freedom” to some degree, but with so many people (voters) up in the air about this election and the direction this country should go, what will possibly be the fate of USA?

We are currently in the worst economic crisis to date!

Jobs are being lost or taken away, I have seen more homeless people than ever on the streets, the price of homes and education is unreal……Let’s not talk about the WAR

    SO

Who can really help us now? Who can change this situation for the better? Is it really btwn Obama and McCain?

MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION….Has this election turned into a popularity contest and just seen as a BIG JOKE?

    Here’s more to stimulate conversation:

A few friends of mine carried on some interesting dialogue this morning about what they think about the idea of voters still being “undecided”, here is what they had to say:

Johnnie:  “I don’t get swing states.  How do you not know who your voting for at this point? Being undecided is a mark of weakness and is really just used so that people can speak freely about the candidates without sounding partisan or prejudiced.

Fina:  Is anyone else filled with anxiety these days??? I’m hopeful but I also fear that curtain will close behind the voters in the pollbooths and only then will they be able to vote freely without being judged and thus the closet racists will be free to come out…Ugh….

Johnnie:   I have a lot of thoughts on this and the main one that comes to mind is that I don’t believe this country is ready as much as they say it is.  This election should be a landslide but I have a feeling people will vote for who they are used to voting for, all order will be restored, and the people’s “love affair” with Barack Obama will be OVER

You can continue on with your own thought…..

     DISCUSS.

Check out below as to how so people are just not too supportive of Senator John McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin….LMAO

“You can spend your time piping petroleum in protected public parks, peddling pro-life propaganda for unplanned pregnancies, and putting lipstick on pigs, polar bears, and police state politics. We’ll provide poignant parodies of your party’s predictable platforms and pathetic public policies……”
The above picture and quote is actually a T-Shirt you can find on ThreadPit.com!  Unbelievable huh? I actually think it pretty much sums up McCain’s campaign strategies! lol….Moving right along though….
Have you ever wondered what the deal is with Sarah Palin? What is her real purpose in this campaign…let’s review shall we:

    Sarah Palin

AP / Getty Images / AP

    •  First off…the Republican National Committee spends more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize the Alaskan VP  beauty
    • Palin allegedly abused her power while in office in Alaska by attempting to get her brother-in-law fired from his position
    • Lastly, an investigation has been launched against Gov. Palin who allegedly charged the state for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and later amended expense reports to specify that they were on official business.  The charges included costs for hotel and commercial flights for three daughters to join Palin to watch their father in a snowmobile race, and a trip to New York, where the governor attended a five-hour conference and stayed with 17-year-old Bristol for five days and four nights in a luxury hotel. In all, Palin has charged the state $21,012
With all that said…..do you really want Palin running this country one day in the case that McCain is incapable of doing so……..Now please click on the link below for more reasons why Palin should go salin’ bye bye…..lol

    • FOR THE FIRST TIME I AGREE WITH CASTRO

    •
SECTION: Believe It Or Not!!!,Important American Government & Politics,What do you think?Assassination, Barack Obama, Cuba, Fidel Castro, McCain, Michelle Obama

Yes you read right…for the first time I agree with Castro, Cuban revolutionary leader and former president of Cuba about his views on Barack Obama running for President of The USA!!  READ BELOW on what he had to say about Barack Obama…..although it may read as quite shocking, it is to some degree true & realistic considering the day and age we live in…

Castro wrote in a commentary that appeared on the website Cubadebate on Saturday, “Profound racism exists in the United States,” as he weighed in on the US presidential race ahead of the November 4 election. “Millions of whites cannot reconcile in their minds with the idea that a black man with his wife and children would move into the White House, which is called just like that — White,” he wrote. He added that it was a “pure miracle” the Illinois senator, who became the first black politician to win the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, had not been assassinated thus far. The ailing Cuban communist leader, who handed power to his brother Raul earlier this year, described Obama as a politician who “has the habit of looking at his opponent with serenity and laughing at his rhetorical attacks.” Castro’s comments came as a war of words with racial undertones marked the US White House race after civil rights icon John Lewis accused Republican candidate John McCain of sowing “hatred” against Obama, who is developing a commanding lead in opinion polls. Castro also mocked McCain’s poor grades at the naval academy and said Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin “knew nothing at all about anything.”

    -Fidel Castro

Look…he is just stating the facts and basically saying what everyone else is thinking!  I am surprised it hasn’t happened either with the tomfoolery bullshit I have heard several white American and black americans alike spewing as of late!  The “RACE” is on but its not entirely healthy…let’s hope for the best!

Story Courtesy of Alaska Associated Press Oct. 10th

Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday. The politically charged inquiry imperiled her reputation as a reformer on John McCain’s Republican ticket.

Investigator Stephen Branchflower, in a report to a bipartisan panel that looked into the matter, found Palin in violation of a state ethics law that prohibits public officials from using their office for personal gain.

Palin supporters have called the investigation politically motivated. The inquiry looked into her dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan who he was dismissed as retribution for resisting pressure to fire a state trooper involved in a bitter divorce with the governor’s sister. Palin says Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.

Palin and McCain’s supporters had hoped the inquiry’s finding would be delayed until after the presidential election to spare her any embarrassment and to put aside an enduring distraction as she campaigns as McCain’s running mate in an uphill contest against Democrat Barack Obama.

Spare Palin any Embarassment? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? LMBAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!  She is the epitome of the word EMBARASSMENT, not because she is a woman…because she is an IDIOT who can see Russia from her house!!

SECTION: Believe It Or Not!!!,Did you know that....?,I Swear.....,Out of this WORLD!!!,UNBELIEVABLE!!!!,What do you think?Barack Hussein Obama, Bobby May, Campaign, Columnist, Ludacris, McCain, Political Advertising Specialist

So is McCain’s Campaign in trouble…and this time its not due to Ms. Sarah “I love to hug trees” Palin?  Guess who’s adding more fire to the kitchen?…..Read below

Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s campaign has ousted a prominent figure in Virginia GOP circles and a longtime contractor of Congressman Virgil Goode.

The McCain campaign announced this week that it was dropping Bobby May, a columnist and Republican political advertising specialist, after it discovered a racially charged editorial in a newspaper mocking a potential Barack Obama administration in the White House.

Now brace yourself….this shit is outrageous…I dare say I think we’ve got a closet pro-black hip hop fan on our hands, the name Bobby May does sounds as if he could have been a jazz singer back in the day….DAMN FRONTER!!!!

In the column, “The (clarified) platform of Barack Hussein Obama,” which originally appeared in Buchanan County’s The Voice, May mockingly lays out his opinion of what Obama’s presidential policies would be.

May writes that if elected, the Democratic candidate would hire rapper Ludacris to paint the White House black, change the national anthem to the “Black National Anthem” by James Weldon Johnson, and on the position of reparations to black communities, he writes that Obama “opposes before Election Day and supports after Election Day.”

    Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Furthermore,  Gail Gitcho, a spokeswoman for McCain’s campaign, said in a written statement to the Los Angeles Times that May’s attempts at humor “are offensive and have no place in political discourse. … The McCain campaign wholeheartedly disavows Mr. May’s column.”

“Bobby May is not and has not been on my campaign staff,” Goode said in a written statement. “I will take a look at the controversial material and make an evaluation and judgment after I have done that.”

Looks like May could kiss his career goodbye!  So you’re a Ludacris fan huh May?  I thought  you would’ve been a bit more outdated and  mentioned a rapper like TUPAC…LMAO…what do you possibly know about Ludacris? Oh well maybe his name has popped up a couple of times in regards to Obama because he made a song about him, so it was a draw btwn using his name or Jay-Z’s?  I know what your problem is Mr. Bobby May…..we all do (wink! :)

Let me find out Bobby May’s bops his head to the Disturbing Tha Peace Album on the regular…LOL

Don’t Worry Bobby…I’ve figured it all out …you secretly love tans, our food,  women, and our music…..its only natural and with that said
