This past Wednesday the No Disrespect Campaign alongside the Girls Pride Project conducted a workshop on empowerment and inspiring young women in the workplace at the African Center for Community Empowerment in St. Albans, Queens. Switching things up a bit, both organizations got to work with a different group…college age women. The topic was switched from bullying to empowerment. We touched on many topics from time management to setting goals and how we all must over come our fears in order to succeed. Community issues such as what just happened with Eric Garner, how we must all be aware what going on around us and be that helping hand were also brought up and discussed.  It was a powerful, intriguing, open forum that just exuded positivity and thought provoking conversation. The girls were so inspired by Ms.Delaleu and Shani they had question after question. Many of them were seeking to get into the entertainment industry and helping their community so the knowledge that was shared with them was truly like them finding a gem. The difference that was made that day could be felt. It felt good to know in today’s society there are young people who are awake.
